Gluten free flour

These days, finding a gluten-free flour blend is no longer the issue; it’s finding the right blend. I’ve had so many customers commiserate with me over their baking fails- the cookie crumbles in their hands, the bread is too dry, the cake has a strange aftertaste- sound familiar? It is heartbreaking to follow a recipe down to a T and invest time and money into something homemade, only to discover it’s really not tasty. I still experience baking fails of my own on the regular, but I can say in full confidence that since I have been using my own blend, the flour is never the root of the problem. My blend has worked wonders for me. It produces flaky pie crusts, fluffy cakes, dense brownies, creamy cheesecakes, and moist breads. Since I established this tool for myself, I’ve reached no limits when it comes to gluten-free baking. The blend contains a specific ratio of rice flours, potato starch, arrowroot powder, tapioca flour, and guar gum. It is nut free, soy free, and, by popular demand, free of overly processed ingredients such as corn starch and xanthan gum. I am so proud of this product, and eager to stock it in your pantry for your next gluten-free baking adventure! I guarantee you’ll be as delighted as I am.

Gluten free recipes

When I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I had never even heard of the word “gluten” before. My very non-empathetic gastroenterologist basically said “yep, you can’t eat gluten any more, so good luck” and sent me on my way. Growing up with normal glutenous foods for 18 years, I couldn’t accept the fact that there were certain things I just would never be able to eat again. So, I decided it was up to me to reinvent the wheel and get into the nitty gritty of gluten-free cooking and baking! Head over to my bake page for some inspiration, but my ultimate brain child for gluten-free recipes is my seasonal cookbook. Despite how far gluten-free substitutes have come in the last ten years, this book was inspired by the wide variety of dishes I still can never seem to order at a restaurant safely. I consider it a year-round tool, because in addition to the 10 gluten-free how-tos such as breads, pastry dough, and pizza dough, it contains 20 recipes for each season. You’ll always have a new recipe waiting to be explored when the weather changes! I think you’ll be very happy with the array of flavors and cuisines highlighted in this book.

I have never been a picky eater, and I love variety in my food choices. So a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie has never been enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good chocolate chip cookie, but there are just too many other flavors and types of sweets out there that everyone should be able to enjoy, and thanks to the core and brain of my business, I can make that possible for you! Similar to my cookbook, I love highlighting locally sourced, seasonal produce. From one small business to another, supporting my local community is so important to me. So, my menu of offerings changes on a monthly basis! Thanks to my partnerships with some lovely farmers markets and small businesses in the greater Philly area, you can find my items at many locations, especially during the peak farmers’ market season (May-November). Check out my current farmers market schedule on my shop page. I typically offer two jumbo muffins, a coffee cake or scone, a hand pie, doughnut, or cinnamon roll, something vegan and free of added sugar, and something chocolatey and super indulgent. If you can’t find something for everyone in your family to enjoy at my stand, I’m truly not sure what else I could do. In addition, I have basics such as sandwich bread loaves, brioche dinner rolls, and occasionally I’ll offer pies and pastry dough. I feel each month I’ve been expanding upon my offerings, so we’re a great stop to make during all of your regular farmers market outings! At this time, I do not offer shipping of my baked goods, other than cookies and plain breads. I want my items to be as fresh as possible for you, and shipping them makes that a challenge. However, my items do freeze very well, wrapped tightly and placed in a freezer bag- so you can stock up for a couple weeks!
